Today on the Slanted Lens I’m going to be reviewing the Roamographer Bison Bag. This product got me really excited when I saw it a WPPI. It’s from a company called Hold Fast and they make this series of leather bags with genuine Buffalo hide.
The Roamographer Bison Bag has carrier straps that are made so you can pull them out on the bottom and loosen them so you can securely carry a tripod. There’s padded sheepskin on the shoulder strap, maybe a little bit thicker would have been nice. You can also attach a camera to the shoulder strap so you can easily pull the camera up when the moment strikes. The bag also has a little wallet that you can carry your credit cards, cell phone, etc. in.
The design is like one of those carpetbagger bag from the 1800’s. Inside can hold all of your camera gear. The nice red lining inside can be pulled out and the bag can just be used as a regular bag. You can get a large version or a small version and the bag comes in black or brown.
Do I have anything negative to say about the bag? Not really. This bag is not something that you are going to buy if you want a roller to roll your stuff around or if you’re looking for the latest, greatest zipper. You buy this bag because it’s cool, it’s vintage, and it can carry your camera. It’s a mixture of old and new. So if that appeals to you, then you should definitely check this bag out. Hi. This is Jay P. Morgan. Today on the Slanted Lens we’re going to take a look at a product that got me really excited when I saw it at WPPI. I called them and said, “Hey, I gotta review your bags.” This is a company by the name of Hold Fast and they make this series of leather bags called the Roamagrapher.
They’re made out of genuine buffalo hide. They’re just fabulous bags. They’re vintage and they’re cool and they’re leather and I just can’t say enough about how cool they are.
So, a couple features about them, though. These straps are made so you can pull them out on the bottom, loosen the strap, pull it out of the bottom, put your tripod on the bottom of the bag. So, it’s a great place to carry your tripod.
It’s got the padded sheepskin for your shoulder. Maybe a little thicker would’ve been nice but
it’s a great padded thing for your shoulder. This little strap right here is great because it gives you the ability to put a little eyelet on your quarter twenty on your camera and you can hang a camera from this as you have it over your shoulders. So it’s a great place to hold that camera, have it right close to you are you’re carrying your bag. So that’s cool.
It also has this which is so cool. It’s a wallet. Basically put your cell phone here, your credit cards, and you can put a pen in there if you want. It’s a little wallet piece. You can take that out and put inside the bag or you can carry it in your pocket. I think it’s just a great little wallet feature that you can do whatever you want with it.
It’s very much a carpet-bagger bag from the 1800’s which is just a very cool design. And inside we’ve got all of our camera gear with a nice red lining in there. So we can pull that out if we want and set that aside. Just use as a regular bag or you can put the lining back in there for when you go off to shoot.
It makes the bag very versatile. You can use it either for your cameras. You can use it for your clothes but it’s a great camera bag. It’s made to be a camera bag.
So they have a large version in brown and in black and they have the small version in brown and black as well. But the small version is perfect for an A7S system, just the small compartments. All your lenses and things go right in there and be perfect. The larger bag is probably better for more like your Cannon Mark 3 system. It’s got more pockets, more holes.
Now it is a leather bag. You’re not going to want to take this in the rain without some kind of cover on it. But most bags are like that. You have to have a rain cover for them to keep them and make them water tight.
Do I have any negative comments about this bag? Not really because it’s a prospective bag. You don’t buy this bag because you want a roller to roll your stuff around. You don’t buy this bag because you want the latest, greatest zipper. You buy this bag because it’s cool and it’s vintage and it will carry your camera. So it’s a mixture between old and new. If that appeals to you this is absolutely the bag you should check out.
Remember you do not need a cowboy hat to own this bag. My daughter, who would never wear a cowboy hat, thinks these bags are pretty dang cool.
