Best Camera Slider for Cinematic Moves!

We’re going to take a look at the history of pot pie from the 1800s to the 50s to today by blending 3 different moves on our SliderPLUS Pro with our HeadPLUS from edelkrone! We’re going to put these 3 moves together seamlessly to create 1 shot that changes eras as we move through.

So we’re going to be eating lots of pot pie!

This idea occurred to me because I was sitting in a restaurant in NYC, a very high-end restaurant that my daughter was extremely excited about going to, and on the menu they had *“pot pie”*, like it was some new fancy revelation! We’ve been making pot pie since the 1700s man!!!

So we’re going to do a sweeping shot with the HeadPLUS and the SliderPLUS Pro from edelkrone. It’s going to move from era to era, first starting on a person, pans down to the pie, then moves around the pie and then back up to the person. Changing eras as we go from left to right, 1800s to 50s to today!

It’s nice because on the edelkrone setup here, I’ve got 4 different pose positions.

Lighting

1850s Lighting

We’ve got an Aputure 300d, and it is just giving a little bit of fill on my face. We’ve got a Silk 210 off to the side going through a bit of diffusion and the diffusion is up so that we have a harder light hitting the pie and a softer light hitting my face. Last but not least we have a F&V Z1200 effect light an it’s going that fire effect to give us the sense that there is a fire off in the background, just to give us some interest in the lighting as she’s bringing the light in and setting it into place.

1950’s Lighting

For our 50s look we just made a slight tweak to our 1880s lighting setup. We still have the fill light in the foreground, we’ve still got the diffusion on the right, and then from the F&V we just have a little bit of fill light.

So she’s just measuring in here so we can see then changing from era to era .

I love the SliderPLUS because at that single pick point it’s going to go all the way out and the swing past that and go all the way to the other side. It’s a lot of movement for a slider that’s that small.

One of my favorite things about all of the edelkrone products is the fact that they run on LP batteries. I have Canon and Canon batteries and it just makes it easy to use.

2019 Lighting

Here’s the lighting breakdown for the 2019s! First we’d got a K 2000s by F&V that’s on her face. We’ve got a grid on it, that’s just supposed to open up her face a little bit. Then on the floor we’ve got an Aputure 300d bouncing into a V Flat and the V Flat is going to open everything up and give us that cross light across the pie and open up her face. Then from the side we have the Silk 210 going through a piece of diffusion. Last of all we have the Z 1200 with just a little bit of fill, and all of these add up to a light that is very bright and airy.

CONCLUSION

So let’s wrap this up! There are 3 different lighting scenarios that move from darker to a lighter experience, from old to new, and in that process we use the same slider move so we have that tilt pan and slide with the edelkrone. So let’s see how it all came together!

It’s just the ability to be able to repeat that move with the precision slider tilt and pan head.
