Tamron Announces 3 NEW FULL-FRAME Lenses for 2019!

We have some great news from Tamron, who just released their brand new full-frame lenses set to release in mid-2019.

We have the 17-28mm fast wide angle mirrorless lens for the Sony, two full-frame DSLR lenses: the 35mm f1.4 prime for Nikon and Canon, and the 35-150mm portrait zoom lens! Let’s take a look at each of these lenses in-depth…

#1) 35-150mm f/2.8-4 Di VC OSD Lens for Canon and Nikon

Tamron is always coming out with really interesting focal lengths for their lenses. They really are building lenses that are faster and cheaper to build, but not sacrificing quality. At the wide end of the lens it shoots at f2.8 and at the tight end it shoots at f4 which is still a very fast lens.

It’s a very versatile lens because you can use the 35mm to get a wider landscape view, but you can also get a medium to deep portrait range of 150mm. It has also got the 85mm in there, which is a really sweet spot for portraits. If you are using the 24-70 or 28-75 you are missing out on a really great range.

Focusing Distance
It has a very short focusing distance of 17.7 inches, so if the lens is 7 inches then it’s going to be 10inches at a 150mm. You are basically going to have a macro lens because of how tight of a shot you’ll have.

Low Dispersion Glass
The lens has Low Dispersion (LD) glass that helps to minimize chromatic aberrations in order to achieve greater clarity with reduced color fringing.

VC Image Stabilization
VC, which stands for Vibration Compensation, image stabilization is also part of the lens. This reduces the appearance of shakiness when shooting your camera handheld in low-light conditions.

#2) Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD Lens for Canon and Nikon

So Tamron already has a 35mm, but it’s a f1.8, so it’s nice that they are getting to the new standard of f1.4. I really like 35mm for a great standard prime lens, it’s not wide enough that you get distortion. It provides a comfortable focal length that is suitable for traveling and general portraits. It’s going to be a faster lens, but it’s a super versatile lens especially at a f1.4

#3) Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Lens for Sony E

This is Tamron’s next mirrorless offering for the Sony. Their first mirrorless lens was the 28-75mm f2/8, which is a great and sharp lens. It looks like their going to make this the same size and diameter at 67mm. It has the same minimum focus distance of 7.5 inches, which is really close. It’s a companion lens to their 28-75, which is really crucial for building a solid lens collection.

Rapid Extra Silent Stepping Drive

This just means that they are high-speed, high precision and extremely quiet.

We are excited to try out these new lenses and show you how they do in some tests!
