#2 Tweezers

Having small tweezers is great for having to make changes and move the food without having to use fingers.

Even a lot of fine dining chefs use tweezers so that they can be very precise!

#3 Brushes

Have brushes of different sizes, shapes and textures.

Makeup brush for powder and light things

Small paintbrush for little details

And 2 cooking brushes for adding the sauce.

#4 Squeeze Bottles

These are good for when you have to add a little sauce to the edge of burgers, sandwiches, etc.

#5 Spray Bottles

This is good for misting water onto things like salad, herbs, greens, to make them look more fresh.

#6 Q-Tips

You would use assorted Q-Tips mostly for cleaning up, but they can also be good for making small details on food.

#7 Toothpicks

This is exactly what you need when you are trying to stabilize food, you can use them as building blocks and stick them through food to keep it upright.

#8 Instant Cornmeal Masa

This can be used as a glue for food! When it’s mixed with water it becomes close to a clay and you can use it to hold food in place or as a filler.

#9 Heat Gun

This is great for making concentrated heat to melt cheese or create a brown spot. It’s used a lot for pizza or melts.

#10 Propane Torch

This is also a concentrated heat source, but you wouldn’t use it to melt cheese because it’s almost too intense. This is perfect for making things look like they were on a BBQ or grill!

If you wanted to get grill lines though, you would use

BONUS – Electric Charcoal Starter

This is exactly what you need to make those lines, without firing up a grill in the photoshoot space.

So there you have it! Top 10 items from Anna’s food styling kit with 1 bonus one!

This is a great kit to put together to make sure you have for any times you may be shooting food.
