Are Photography Conventions Worth It?

We just got back from ImagingUSA in Louisville, Kentucky. We had a great time, we learned a lot and we were able to see new gear in our industry. So was it worth it? Well here are some takeaways:

First off, we found the communication with the team at ImagingUSA to be very informative about details leading up to the event with everything from places to stay, how to get to and from the convention center, other things to do in the area, how to register, the schedule of when things were happening, etc., etc.

The classes were terrific. We centered our focus more on business practices and social media but there were lots of other things offered like photo walks, lighting classes and posing classes. They covered things like sports, portraits, weddings, newborns and boudoir photography.

There were several opportunities to meet, greet and mingle if you like that sort of thing.

And PPA (Professional Photographers of America) is the organization behind this event. They have a great network of local chapters throughout the nation and lots of things to take advantage of with your membership like education, competitions, insurance, networking, mentoring and more.

Just like WPPI, NAB, Shutterfest, PhotoPlus and more, ImagingUSA has a lot to offer. So you need to decide if it is worth it for you. If you are feeling stagnant it is a great opportunity to go and get inspired and to help you set some good goals for the future. There are lots of educational classes and workshops. We found it to be a great place to meet up with our followers and sponsors, to network and to help keep us current on new things happening in the Photography industry.

So we hope to see you next at WPPI in Las Vegas!
