It’s time for another review from The Slanted Lens. We’re going to review the Click Stand, by Kupo. I think they were gonna call it the Snap Stand. But then they thought, “Hey, The Slanted Lens. ‘Keep those cameras rollin’, keep on clickin’.” So then they called it the Click Stand. Eh, probably not. Anyway, it’s a click stand. These stands easily stack together, great for when you’re traveling. It’s so difficult when you’re going on location to have a big pile of stands in the back of your car or on your truck. It’s just hard to get them very organized. But these all snap together in a row. Now they’re not as heavy duty as Kupo’s universal stand, which is my favorite heavy duty studio stand. But I love these for traveling.
The seven foot stands collapse down to 27″. Those are great because you can get them into most cases. The eight foot, at 36”, is harder to get into anything except a very tall case. And depending on the shape of your case you can adjust how you stack them. You can stack them the short way or the long way, however they’ll work best for you and where you have to put them. They even have a strap that clicks right on the top and bottom of the stands. You put that on and you’ve got three stands on your shoulder. It’s just very simple. They’re square on the bottom so they stand up on their own. They’ve got a quick release clamp design on that center column that allows them to open up. That lever clicks back in and you’re ready to go. There are two risers on the 8’ version and three on the 7’.
On the top they’ve got a little black cover that protects your quarter-twenty. It comes with quarter-twenty or three-eighths attachments. You know, you get a spud that goes up and down, then you lose the spud. Or someone uses it somewhere else. This at least has it attached. It’s air-cushioned so it will come down really slow. Especially when you’ve got a weight on it, which is really nice. People get their fingers pinched in these without the air-cushion. I’ve used non-air-cushioned stands my whole career, it’s just what I use. But people love these. And it is very nice, there’s no doubt about it. So this is a great stand by Kupo. They are sold individually but you can buy as many of them as you need. It’s very simple to put a group together. Lately when I’m traveling I’ve been using those stands where the legs fold up on themselves. They’re lightweight and short. That’s nice but they’re just not very sturdy. This is a much better option in that when you get the seven foot version it’s short enough to get it into a suitcase and travel with it. And it gives you a much stronger stand when you go to use. I feel a lot more confident putting my LED lights and things on this than a lot of those lighter weight stands. So it’s a great option for travel.
Everything about it has been done right. The knobs are soft. It has a grip on your knobs so it’s easier to work. I give it a ten out of ten just because they call it a Click Stand. No, actually I give it a ten out of ten because it’s a great stand. They designed this to be a positive, travel worthy, great stand to take on location. So check it out. Keep those cameras rollin’, keep on clickin’.
