An extremely exciting update from our friends at SLR Lounge; they have teamed up with DVLOP to form Visual Flow, a preset development company with a patent-pending approach to image development called “lighting condition-based processing.”
We were so blown away by these presets and the amount of control you still have to create stunning images that we knew we had to share with the TSL community! Read on for all of the details.

Most Presets Don’t Work?!
Most presets don’t work because they are designed for ideal lighting conditions, like shade, window light, or golden hour. B but when these same presets are applied to images with different lighting conditions, like scenes with a strong backlight, indoor tungsten lighting, mixed lighting, or green tintflorescent lighting, for example, they don’t yield the right colors. We, photographers, face constantly changing lighting conditions, so, after applying a preset we are stuck making multiple adjustments to get images to look right.
The answer is the Visual Flow lighting condition-based approach.
A Modern Preset Pack for Lightroom and ACR
Visual Flow uses DVLOP’s camera profile technology, which yields better skin tones, shadows, and smoother color transitions. The profiles also unifies raw files, regardless of the camera used, to a consistent starting place. From there, Visual Flow adds a patent pending approach to raw processing called Lighting Condition Based Development. Here’s how it works:
- Identify the primary lighting condition in the image.
- Click the preset for the lighting condition
- … That’s It!
From there, the algorithms take over and apply the Color Engine while correcting it to the selected lighting condition.
Preset Image Examples
Below are a few “before and afters” from the Modern Preset Pack.
