We are talking about the Leica Q2 today! Now we don’t have the camera, but we are going to give you our thoughts on the specs and what we hope to expect when we test it out in the future.
Leica is known for its high quality, expensive cameras. The Q2 is no exception, this camera comes in at $5,000, which made Kenneth a bit nervous.

So what do you get for $5,000? You can a full-frame camera with a fixed lens, 28mm f 1.7. It has some great specs, it’s a 48.7 megapixel. I would shoot with this camera because I love wide lenses, but I don’t like that I can’t put a longer lens on the camera. By the time I crop into my photo, it will no longer be 48 mp.

The reason I was interested in this camera was that I used to shoot with the Fuji X-100F. I loved everything about the camera, but the fixed lens. So it seems like it might be a great camera to take with you while traveling, but the fixed lens brings up some limitations as to the zoom factor and the flexibility.
Crop Features
The thing that intrigued me about this camera is that it has this button on the back of it that allows me to artificially crop into the focal length of the sensor. You can crop to a 50mm and still have 15mp, which isn’t terrible. Now this camera isn’t made for the professional photographers planning to sell their travel landscapes online. This camera is a run and gun that’s a great quality to make good memories with (if you can afford it).
Weather Sealing
The camera has great weather sealing, so it’s made to be out in the rain and taken outside on adventures. I’m just not sure that it’s worth it for me to be spending so much on this camera.
The interesting thing is that I’ve seen people carrying around the Leica Q before. They will shoot with their Canon 5D or whatever their professional equipment is and then also have the Leica as their personal camera. I’m interested in seeing what makes it so special that photographers will carry it as their second camera.
OLED Viewfinder
What I think makes it special is that it’s useful for street photography because it’s size is so compact and not intimidating. In that regard, it would be useful for people to shoot under the radar. It also has an OLED (electronic) viewfinder. So we’ll let you know when we get our hands on this camera.
