Trends from the Trenches – October 2014

Segment 1: Jay P and Lars are back at Samy’s Camera in Pasadena for a whole new episode of Trends from the Trenches. They kick things off with some news and currents events affecting the photography world. Should photographers be required to carry permits to shoot in a national park? Jay P and Lars weigh in, but they want to know what you think.
Next, the guys tackle news from Photokina including new announcements from Canon, GoPro, Samsung, and Nikon. Did they skip anything that you wanted to hear about? Let them know in the comments.

Segment 2: What Does Ken Want to Talk About? This month, Ken wants to talk about a brand new Pentax Z camera, just out of the box. This medium format camera has the guys excited to get their hands on their own.

Segment 3: What’s in Jay P’s Bag? Jay P brings out a couple new products to show Lars and the viewers. The products include camera hand straps, Rosco strobe gels, and a couple Domke camera bags.

Segment 4: Jeff from Samy’s Camera joins the guys in this month’s New Products segment. He has five TTL strobe heads to talk about. Jay P knows which one he likes, but tell us your preference in the comments.

Segment 5: In the final segment, get a sneak peek at the Meet the DP interview with cinematographer Doug Chamberlain. The full interview will be out soon so be sure to check back for that.
