Lighting on Location Photography Workshop

[ultimate_heading]

Learn the skills you need to shoot on location in any kind of lighting. (Only fifteen spots available!)

[/ultimate_heading]

In my 25 years of shooting I have learned how to overcome the most difficult lighting situations in order to create beautiful portraits. My Lighting on Location photography workshop is designed to show you exactly how I shoot on the job. I’ll walk you through several different lighting situations, and teach you how to use each to your advantage. You’ll leave this workshop with the confidence to handle any lighting circumstance you come across. Our backdrop is a WWII air museum here in Los Angeles, full of beautiful vintage planes. We’ll have models with professional hair, makeup, and wardrobe, and you’ll get a chance to create some beautiful portraits you can add to your portfolio. So join me on April 30th from 11am to 11pm in Los Angeles for this Lighting on Location photography workshop.

What We’ll Cover

Natural light inside the hangar- You’ll learn where to place your subject in order to get the most beautiful light for your portrait.

Strobe lighting in the hangar- I’ll teach you a three light photography studio set-up inside the hanger.

Positioning talent so you can shoot in direct sun- Using the sun and no modifiers, strobes or reflectors, I’ll teach you how to shoot in direct sun. You’ll learn to position your model to use the sun to your advantage and get beautiful portraits.

Adding reflectors to modify direct sun- Next we’ll add reflectors to modify direct sun. I’ll show you how to use reflectors to do 2 things: turn the sun into a soft keylight with a translucent reflector, and create a key and rim using 2 reflectors.

Combining strobes with direct sun- You’ll learn to create shade and keylight with a soft box. We’ll look at how you can use color to simplify the background in your photographs by using cross balancing.

Combining strobes with sunset- Balancing strobes with the setting sun, shooting long past sunset when most other photographers have gone home, is next. This is a time when we’ll get some of our most interesting portraits. I’ll teach how to create a studio look outside as the sun goes down.

Take your images to the next level- Julene Morgan of Morgan Photo Retouch will present image enhancing techniques and skin retouching tips. She’ll take time to address the images you take at the workshop, and teach you how to make them stand out and look professional.
