On February’s all new episode of Trends from the Trenches, Jay P and Lars have a lot to talk about. In the first segment, the guys discuss the Rescued Film project (http://www.rescuedfilm.com), Sports Illustrated’s change in staff photographers, new microphone releases from Rode and more.
Canon just announced two new cameras, the 5Ds and 5DsR, as well as an L-series lens, due out later this year. Jay P and Lars, with help from Frank from Samy’s Camera, hash out the specs of the new 50.6 megapixel DSLRs and L-Series Ultra Wide Angle 11-24mm lens, and get a lesson from Frank about low-pass filtering bodies and what they mean for photographers.
In the third segment, Jeff takes Lars’ seat to talk with Jay P about TTL flashes and off-camera triggers. After getting lost with menu options, the guys have the set up sorted and compare the similarities and differences between Canon’s STE3 trigger and the Pocket Wizard system.
Jay P and Lars are excited to get their hands on the Tamron SP 15-30mm 2.8 lens. Tamron representative Armando joins the guys in the final segment to share more details on the new, ultra-wide lens that has an impressive 18 elements and 13 groups — all for only $1100. Check back on The Slanted Lens in the near future for a review of the 15-30mm lens when Jay P gets to take one of his own home.
