Thank you for bringing back “Trends”. We really missed you.
Thanks for missing us!
Jay P and Lars,
Thanks for starting up the Trends segment again. I enjoy getting your input and knowledge about what is going on in both the photo and video world.
Jay P, you mentioned that everyone you know that buys a less expensive light ends up buying a more expensive one in the end. As one who works on a budget I know what you mean. But I also recognize that this part of the process for everyone. People buy what they can afford and then upgrade when they can.
I believe if someone has a desire to work in this industry they should go to work with what they have or can afford…be it a light in a cooler or a Neewer light off of Amazon. Then upgrade when they can.
Personally, I searched quite a bit for some video lights similar to the Photoflex Northstar Lights you used to use so much and found some for about 1/5 the price. I would be interested in comparing them side by side. I know there may be differences but I would suggest that for the difference in price, they are an excellent light for anyone on a budget.
I know there are some cheap knock-offs out there that are just garbage, but if someone is willing to put in some time and research into what they are looking for, they can get some decent equipment for a decent price.
Thanks again for all the wisdom and your experience you share with all of us.
Matthew
