13 Affordable LEDs: What to BUY and What’s BRIGHTEST!

May 23, 2019 By Morgan Leave a Comment

So today we are comparing 13 different LED Lights that come in at under $1000. We compare the brightest to a 1k and see which one is the most bang for your buck.

We are giving away 4 of lights from below:
Savage Fresnel 1000 LED Light
Mivitar Menik Bi-Color LED Fresnel Light
Genaray Powerhouse Daylight LED Monolight
Genaray Powerhouse Daylight LED Monolight

We are starting with the cheapest light, which is the Godox SL60W. Each of the lights will have its stats posted below.

1.Godox SL 60W Daylight-Balanced (~134)

B&H: https://bhpho.to/2JWsklr
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2M19JaD

2. Godox SL 100W (~240)

B&H: https://bhpho.to/2JXAhH2
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2JWGhA4

This light is actually very similar to the Godox 60W in terms of brightness, so personally, I would recommend either going for the 200W or getting the 60W.

3. Savage Fresnel 1000 LED Light (~270)*

B&H: https://bhpho.to/2K30NyG

Now, this light is -1.6 stop below a 1k, it’s a very simple light for the studio with really no bells or whistles.

4. Godox SL 200W (~350)

B&H: https://bhpho.to/2JTBEGM
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2JVyK4l

This is a really solid light. It’s definitely not great if you are traveling for a shoot because you will need to plug it in, but it’s really bright for a great price if you need a studio light.

5. Dracast Boltray Plus 600W (~388)

3-Light Kit B&H: https://bhpho.to/2K5iaPN
ON SALE (~148)
Website: https://dracobroadcast.com/product/dracast-boltray-plus-led600-daylight-led-light/

Although this light isn’t incredibly bright, it’s really light and portable with great travel battery solutions. It would be great as a light kit to travel with.

6. Hensel Intra LED Light (~398)

B&H: https://bhpho.to/2JRQPjQ

7. Mivitar Menik Bi-Color LED Fresnel Light (~459)*

Amazon: https://amzn.to/2Ep4eMM

8. Aputure 120d (~545)

B&H: https://bhpho.to/2rvg1T0
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2YIBIxq

The 120d is a great all-rounder light with a variety of battery solutions and a Bowens mount.

9. Genaray Radiance Daylight LED Monolight (~650)*

B&H: https://bhpho.to/2K310ls
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2JTDyXW

This was a great light except for the fact that it came with this huge power block. It just weighs so much that it wouldn’t be practical to bring this along for any shoots. It would have to stay in the studio.

10. Dracast Fresnel Pro LED 1500 with DMX (~670)

B&H: https://bhpho.to/2JVyq5D

11. (Jay P’s Pick) Genaray Powerhouse Daylight LED Monolight (~800)*

B&H: https://bhpho.to/2JTUnBY
Amazon: https://amzn.to/2McZnom

This is an amazing light! I love bright it is and how versatile it is as a light. It has a wireless remote so I can control it from afar, and has all the mounting and battery solutions that I would need while traveling for a shoot.

12. (Jay P’s Other Pick) NiceFoto COB LED HA 3300B Light (~839)

Amazon: https://amzn.to/2JVD4kc

The Genaray Powerhouse has a twin! This light is extremely similar in build, has a Bowens mount, wireless capabilities, and battery mounts. It is, however, slightly brighter than the Genaray Powerhouse and is 1.7 stops brighter than a 1k flooded light.

13. Fillex P360 Pro Plus LED (~995)

B&H: https://bhpho.to/2JVBSgI

This tiny little light might not be the brightest light, but it’s an extremely lightweight light that comes with a variety of mounting solutions and battery solutions as well. It is also a bi-color light that allows you to change between daylight and tungsten.
